Blasket table lamp
The Blasket table lamp is small in stature but don't let that fool you! It is a proud little lamp, having spent most of its life on an uninhabited steep rocky island west of the Dingle Peninsula since the 1900's.
This timber is rare indeed and it is thanks to a former lighthouse keeper that we found each other. The oak beam it came from, once formed part of the crane (or jib) that helped deliver paraffin oil from the ship onto the jagged rocks of Tearaght Lighthouse, the lighthouse of the Blasket Islands.
The water ingress marks are visible on the sides where the salt water hammered the timber for an age. Due to rarity of this timber, we only have enough to make 20 lamps if we're lucky.
This is a very special lamp for anyone with a connection to the West of Ireland or a love for the Atlantic ocean. For many, the Blasket Islands were a last glimpse of Ireland as they left for America.
This lamp will come with the Copperfish stamp of authenticity and a special card with details of the timber's wonderful history and story.
